Health & Hygiene
A big challenge currently being faced is the poor health condition of those living in Keonjhar district. Those who suffer most in this regard are mothers and their children. The reason for this is two-fold: Firstly the terrain of Keonjhar district is remote and inaccessible. Secondly, those practicing medicine in these regions believe in superstition rather than actual medical facts and lack basic awareness of health and hygiene practices.
At the Arya Group Foundation (AGF), our goal is to ensure that mother and child have access to healthy living conditions. One way of achieving this is through 100% institutional deliveries. Another way is by working to bring the number of Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) cases below the national average, while simultaneously eradicating malnourishment in infants in peripheral areas.
